Perennial tufted or mat-forming grass with stolons that root from the lower nodes. The leaf blades are flat and tapered 5-27cm x 2-5mm, with softly hairy surfaces, especially below.||The stems are 30-80cm tall and the inflorescence has 2-6 digitate, oblong spikes, 3-5cm long.||Spikelets are awned.||Native of coastal areas of southern and eastern Africa and introduced as a lawn grass for shady areas||
